Among the recipes of different Indian cuisines, the name of one humble preparation is often neglected and sometimes deliberately omitted. It is cheap, cooks quite easily, and is light on your stomach and good for your constitution. If you are sick then it is the best bet for you to eat. It needs a slight courage to offer it to your guests with some accompaniments and it can be a delight to not so demanding gourmet. This humble Indian preparation is called Khichri.

Seafood is supposedly very good for our skin and research backs it up. Seafood is a rich source of essential fatty acids like Omega 3 and Omega 6. Nuts like almonds, walnuts, flax seeds also contain omega acids which are great for skin. Reason?Well these help reduce inflammation in the body which trigger adverse reactions in our body leading to clogging of pores and acne. They also help to moisturize Desi Ghee skin from within. Have a handful of almonds every day or eat Salmon, Tuna which all contain these fatty acids.



Take a churning equipment. You can use hand-held churning device. I prefer a blender that has a churning blade. If the blender could accommodate, pour the cream and yoghurt together. If it's not possible, then pour in proportion, for instance 1: 1.For a tablespoon of cream, take one tablespoon of yoghurt. After adding them together, churn for 2-4 minutes. When you open the lid of blender, you could see the butter floating above.

North India typically has a multitude of griddle (tava) baked breads made with unleavened dough for the most part. The base dough for most consists of whole meal flour mixed with water and a little salt, the whole of which is then kneaded to a soft pliable consistency. This is then made into different types of breads as below.

Spices are an integral part of Indian cooking. One cannot envision cooking food without spices at all! Not only do spices add flavor and aroma, they are good for the body as well. It's been well established that trans-fatty acids -- a byproduct of hydrogenated oil -- are the most heart-unhealthy fats of all. In contrast, butter contains only one gram of saturated fat per teaspoon.

This bread is Kashmiri in origin. Tel Varu closely resembles a bun and is sprinkled with sesame seeds on the crust, which is quite crisp. Slightly salty in taste, it is made with normal bread dough - really a local variation of bread as we all know and love. Tel Varu is usually eaten with Sheer Chai, which is salty Kashmiri tea.
